Neuriva Reviews

As Nootropic supplements became popular for their ability to boost cognitive function, there’s been a huge spurt in the number of brands offering these brain supplements.

What’s confusing though, is that all of them call their brain supplement “the best”. But as we know, Nootropics are a very recent space of research, and not all of these supplements are created equal.

Neuriva is one of the latest ones to hop on to the bandwagon. The internet these days is flooded with Neuriva reviews that call it the best nootropic supplement.

But does it deserve this title? Let’s take a closer look.

In this Neuriva review, we will try to understand whether or not this supplement deserves that tag. How does this supplement work? What makes it different from other Nootropics? We have all the answers for you.

What is Neuriva?

Neuriva is a brand of a brain supplement manufactured by Schiff Vitamins, a popular dietary supplements brand that manufactures a wide range of supplements. Neuriva is their maiden foray into cognitive function boosters or smart pills.

The supplement is available in the form of Neuriva gummies, Neuriva Capsules, and even liquid shots. Well, there’s nothing like a shot of brain performance boosters a day, is there?

But going by the story so far, it’s not been a pretty one. There are three class action lawsuits against Schiff Vitamins, with one of them having been filed in May 2020. Guess why?

It’s to challenge Schiff Vitamins’ claim that Neuriva can boost brain performance or brain health in any way. Also, a lot of Neuriva reviews online are about how Schiff’s products are overpriced and lack efficacy.

But most importantly, let us understand whether or not this product is the best nootropic supplement out there. To qualify as a supplement that can legitimately improve brain health or brain performance, there have to be two primary things.

  1. Ingredients that have been clinically studied and shown to improve brain health or brain performance.
  2. Adequate clinical evidence to back it up.

Does that happen with Neuriva? We don’t think so, exactly like the guys who filed the lawsuits against Schiff Vitamins Nootropic.

Neuriva Claims

To understand why Neuriva doesn’t qualify as the best nootropic supplement and why there are lawsuits against them, let us take a look at their primary claims.

1) It states that it can improve cognitive function and memory.

2) Neuriva Claims that it can boost focus

3) They also say that this supplement can improve accuracy, which we believe is a way to mention problem solving

4) Neuriva says it boosts learning, which can be appealing to students

5) Lastly, it says that the dietary supplement can boost concentration

These 5 parameters are, by all means, the most important benefits of using any Nootropic supplement. Every nootropic worth it’s salt should claim it can do these.

But these are not easy to substantiate because they need to be backed by clinical data. This is where Neuriva falls short.

There are no published, independent studies that support any of these claims. The only study that Neuriva cites is one where it was found to improve alertness in rats.

This Alertness research is not related to cognitive function or memory, either. Most of the other claims can be attributed to better supplements like Noocube and Mind Lab Pro possibly, because of their potent and diverse ingredients that include vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and herbal extracts backed by clinical studies.

On that note, let us look at the ingredients in Neuriva, another critical factor that has irked several people.

Neuriva Ingredients

Now that we know that the main claims of Neuriva cannot be substantiated, let us take a look at the ingredients to see why there’s so much hullabaloo over this brain health booster.

There are just 2 ingredients in Neuriva.

  • Coffee Fruit Extract

We all are familiar with coffee beans which are renowned for their ability to perk us up and make us more alert. But there’s a fruit that surrounds the bean, called coffee cherry. Coffee cherry is generally discarded during the coffee making process, or used for other commercial applications.

Only recently, scientists discovered that it’s a treasure trove of health benefits. The coffee fruit extract is crammed with flavonoids, antioxidants, and other natural compounds that offer numerous benefits.

However, Schiff Vitamins only uses the rind and the skin in making Neuriva brain supplement, not the whole coffee fruit concentrate. So the whole coffee fruit concentrate powder on the label is actually misleading.

Also, the problem with coffee fruit extract is that it’s yet to be scientifically studied in detail. There’s one clinical study that shows that coffee cherry and French melon concentrate can increase the levels of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), which is a protein that supports the growth and survival of neurons in the brain.

This is a good sign, but more research is needed to ascertain if coffee fruit extract can actually improve mental abilities or memory in humans, beyond boosting levels of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor.

Based on this, we can say that the research is inconclusive as Neuriva brain supplement is not clinically proven in humans

  • Phosphatidylserine

Phosphatidylserine is a phospholipid that’s found in the cell membranes of all body tissues, primarily brain cells. It’s popular as a supplement because it has been shown to improve brain function in seniors.

There’s one Japanese study that showed that phosphatidylserine can improve memory, brain function, and cognitive function in people with Alzheimer’s disease. However, this study was conducted on a very small number of people and needs to be replicated in larger trials.

Based on the current evidence, we can say that phosphatidylserine does have some potential to improve brain function in seniors. But, like coffee fruit extract, more research is needed to ascertain if it can actually benefit healthy adults. The jury is still out on this one.

That’s it. 2 ingredients and only 1 of them has any scientific backing. The other is just a fruit extract with potential health benefits.

If we compare this to the ingredients in Noocube or Mind Lab Pro, which we will discuss in detail, the difference is night and day.

Each of these ingredients has been clinically proven and found to improve brain performance or memory.

Does Neuriva really work?

Short answer: We don’t think so.

Long answer: Although there are some positive reviews on Amazon, most of them provide no information about dosage or the ingredients that were used.

We cannot discount the possibility that these reviews are fake either. It’s not uncommon for brands in the health supplement industry to hire promoters to create fake reviews that boost sales.

Based on our analysis of the ingredients, we can say that there are not enough ingredients in Neuriva to back up some of the claims they make. It’s a two ingredient blend with only one of them having any scientific backing.

We also looked at the research on these ingredients and found that it’s inconclusive. More research is needed to ascertain if they can actually improve brain health or memory in humans.

So, does Neuriva work? Our answer is no, we don’t think so. The evidence just isn’t there to support the claims they are making. If you’re looking for a brain health supplement, we would recommend checking out Noocube, Mind Lab Pro, or Hunter Focus. They have ingredients that have been clinically studied and shown to improve brain cells’ function and memory.

What are the side effects of taking Neuriva?

Well, it’s just two ingredients, and that too in minuscule doses. So, to be fair, we don’t think there are any side effects of taking Neuriva brain supplements.

In fact, one user said on Amazon that they have been taking it for a while and haven’t had any side effects.

However, if you’re still a little skeptical then we would recommend checking with your doctor before going ahead with this supplement. Also, watch out for signs of insomnia or nausea. Generally, nootropics sourced from coffee cherry extract tend to cause these side effects.

We would recommend sticking with Mind Lab Pro as it has 12 ingredients and each one of them is clinically studied and shown to improve brain health. What’s more, we haven’t found any negative reviews on Amazon so far. Read our full review here.

Neuriva Pros and Cons

While researching any dietary supplements, it’s important to look at both the advantages and disadvantages. Here’s what we found:

Pros

  • Lots of positive customer reviews
  • Reputed brand with several successful products
  • One-time purchase. Not a recurrent subscription

Cons

  • Inconclusive evidence that the ingredients can improve brain performance or memory
  • Coffee cherry has shown initial promise in boosting mental performance. But is not a proven solution as Neuriva brain performance supplement claims
  • Only contains 2 ingredients that are not clinically proven
  • Lots of claims that don’t add up
  • Existing lawsuits over the claims that cast a huge cloud over the brand

How long does it take for Neuriva to start working?

If the Neuriva reviews are to be believed, then it should start working within a few weeks of taking it. However, we think that it might take a little longer for the ingredients to start showing any results if they ever do.

It’s not a concentrated dose of ingredients, nor does it contain vital ingredients like B Vitamins, Folic acid, and Huperzine A which are clinically tested. All that it does contain is some coffee cherry extract.

Regardless of this, it’s important to keep in mind that nootropics don’t work overnight and they can take anywhere from 12 to 16 weeks to start showing results.

Neuriva Review – Our thoughts

After carefully analyzing everything about Neuriva, here’s our Nueriva Review.

We were surprised by the number of positive reviews on Amazon who claimed that they saw a difference within a few weeks of taking this supplement. However, we think it’s more likely that these users are experiencing a placebo effect rather than any real results.

If we just use the ingredients and the clinical evidence as our benchmark, it’s hard to recommend this product. The doses are too low and there’s no concrete evidence that the ingredients can actually improve cognitive function or memory.
